2. calcium deposits. don't ask. just take my word for it. best thing about these past 3-4 weeks.

4. planting flowers and pruning trees.

5. my amaryllis bulbs are blooming.

6. berry topper from jamba juice (minus the bananas). their granola is super yummy.

8. stress relief target practice with air-soft pelet guns . . . at work. (thank you ann)

9. on friday there was an obituary in the paper for one harold wayne green of fresno, california . . . ha ha ha . . . no relation.

10 things that made me happy this week . . .

1. pulling off a surprise party for my mom, which took a spectacular amount of maneuvering.

2. taking long walks in the rain with friends.

3. greenery that grows up between fences and the cracks in sidewalks. it makes everything look just a little more quaint.

4. valentine surprises.

5. cupcakes.

6. plotting.

7. brazilian restaurants. particularly rio grill in clovis, ca and their parmesan crusted pork.

8. surprise visits from family members.

9. dancing.

10. playing games with my friends. specifically, this weekend we played a game from target called "things," which is immensely fun. the best answer of the night was an accident . . . someone wrote "lick" when they meant to write "like" . . . and that's all i can decently say here . . .

10 things that made me happy this week . . .

alright folks, it's that time of the week again. to be honest, this week has been really rough, but i'm going to give it a try:

1. supportive friends.

2. my bed. honestly, it makes me supremely happy every night. i love my bed. it is beyond comfortable.

3. getting books in the mail.

4. turning in vacation requests at work.

5. between work, school, relief society and life i am excessively tired. i keep waking up confused, not knowing what day it is or where i'm supposed to be . . . which doesn't really sound like something to be happy about . . . but i've started writing post-it notes to myself the night before, indicating the day, my first destination, and the time i'm supposed to be there, and hanging them where they will be the first thing i see when i wake up, which makes me laugh at myself and takes the panic off.

6. it is currently pouring rain outside, which i love.

7. mandarin orange spice herbal tea.

8. new clothes.

9. ponytails.

10. orange sneakers on clearance for $9.99 (regular price $42 - thanks heidi).

my favorite poem

"variation on the word sleep"
-margaret atwood
i would like to watch you sleeping,
which may not happen.
i would like to watch you,
sleeping. i would like to sleep
with you, to enter
your sleep as its smooth dark wave
slides over my head

and walk with you through that lucent
wavering forest of bluegreen leaves
with its watery sun & three moons
towards the cave where you must descend,
towards your worst fear

i would like to give you the silver
branch, the small white flower, the one
word that will protect you
from the grief at the center
of your dream, from the grief
at the center i would like to follow
you up the long stairway
again & become
the boat that would row you back
carefully, a flame
in two cupped hands
to where your body lies
beside me, and as you enter
it as easily as breathing in

i would like to be the air
that inhabits you for a moment
only. i would like to be that unnoticed
& that necessary.
