10 things that made me happy this week . . .

1. craig's birthday party. it's so lovely to take time out to celebrate significant people in your life.


2. walt whitman.


3. we finally got to see drew skateboard this week! we no longer consider it a figment of his imagination.

4. twilight on dvd. like most girls in the universe, i loved the twilight books. i didn't plan on giving the books to my mom because i was pretty sure she would hate it, what with all the vampires and werewolves . . . not really her thing. a few months ago she was going on a little weekend trip and as she was walking out the door she asked me for a book, and because i had no other idea, i gave her twilight but i was pretty sure she wouldn't read it. WRONG! she read the entire series in about two and a half weeks. she really surprises/amuses me sometimes. but she never got to see the movie while it was out, so she went and bought it on saturday. sunday night she, mike and i all sat down and watched it. it was fun. mike hasn't read the books and he didn't see the movie either so he was full of questions. i'm being a punk and not answering them. i'm going to make him read the books to get the answers . . .

5. i joined the gym about a month and a half ago. i finally went for the first time this week. ha ha.

6. cyber stalking . . . he he.

7. no latin homework this week.

9. my new apron from anthropologie. makes me feel kinda stepford . . . but i love it.

10. extreme girl talk in the steam room at the gym that is accidentally overheard by some random boy in the corner as we could not see him through the steam. oh well, he probably enjoyed it . . .

10 things that made me happy this week . . .

again i am late with my weekly top ten . . . and i can make the excuse that i had a latin test yesterday so i was super stressed and didn't have time . . . but truthfully, after my test (which i was really stressed about) i was so euphoric with relief that i took off to the movies with friends and i completely forgot about my post . . . whatever, it's my blog, and my post. i can do whatever i want . . . right?

1. saturday night me and all my friends ate dinner together. we decided to make it breakfast themed. we (meaning i) made eggs benedict, which is my favorite breakfast meal. i was surprised at how many people had never had it before! pretty much everyone loved it, but probably not as much as i do . . . yummy. kendall made his from-scratch waffles, which were also a hit.

2. i got 47 out of 50 on my second paper for my historical research class. hooray for me.

3. i was completely unprepared for my latin test so i left work early on wednesday to study. it was really productive. i think i did alright on the test. we shall see, but i am super relieved to have it out of the way. .

4. there is a girl in my ward who is super-smart. she speaks 3 or 4 languages, and she's pre-med . . . yada, yada. on sunday she told me she thinks i'm really smart, which was totally flattering coming from her.

5. on sunday craig lost a game of settlers of catan. congratulations to amy for deposing the tyrant.

6. i made it thorough a baby shower and a bridal shower on saturday without playing a single game. who makes that crap up anyway? i hate shower games. HATE THEM. if you're going to throw a shower and you're going to play those games, just don't invite me. please. i promise i will not be offended.

7. my room has stayed clean for several weeks running now. it feels so nice to walk in and have it be organized and non-chaotic. now if i could just find a candle that i really liked that didn't make me sick after a few days of the same smell . . . .

8. it is gorgeous outside. yesterday when i was studying for my latin test i sat in the backyard in a lawn chair, basking in the sunlight. (hello vitamin d! missed you.) i shall resume my ritual of going home for lunch and eating in the backyard. however this will be bittersweet as i usually sat in the backyard with walter.

9. regina and i went to see "taken" again with craig and kendall (they had not yet seen it). again, we laughed at inappropriate moments (like when he karate chops people in the throat and it completely debilitates them, or when the guy gets hit by the semi). what can i say, violence against scumbags makes me giddy. unfortunately, i think the boys now think we're a little psycho . . .

10. the other day i overheard mazur telling my mom that he really likes me when i act like i'm not excited to see him, but he doesn't like me when i act excited to see him . . . .

10 things that made me happy this week

1. stargazing nights at the lake.

2. clue.

3. good conversations that last into the wee small hours of the morning without you noticing.

4. doing things that scare you emotionally and having it pay off. specifically, my conversation with regina in which i confessed my overwhelming sense of insecurity and inadequacy and she was really supportive. it helped a lot.

5. visiting teaching dinners.

6. roommate ryan has turned out to be HILARIOUS!

7. discovering kendall was one of the performers of the super-amazing performance of "demons" at last years talent show.

8. power walking.

9. getting to know people better.

10. having 14 people over for sunday dinner.

10 things that made me happy this week

i realize this is a day late, but in defense of myself, i've been down with a horrid cold thing this week and had a lot of homework and had relief society stuff to attend to and a lesson to plan and i had to write a paper, so actually it's pretty impressive that i'm only a day behind . . .

1. being the only person in a crowded room to see something really funny, and laughing so hard you cry and can't breathe while everyone sits around wondering what they missed. i'll never tell!

2. the orchards all over fresno are blooming and with all the pink and white flowers it looks like a crazy beautiful scene out of the cheesiest romance movie you ever imagined. i'll try and get pictures.

3. my amaryllis bloomed. thus, i have officially completed one of my new year resolution. (picture to follow)

4. my visiting teacher just returned from a trip to india and she brought me this fantastic silver cuff with elephants on it. i love it! i haven't taken it off. i love getting jewelry from other countries. you have a story every time you wear it.

5. i finally have a full relief society presidency. hooray.

6. mazur was "not comfortable" (translation: scared) in the living room the other night so he came in to sleep with me, but he was still having trouble falling asleep, so i read harry potter out loud until he fell asleep. it's his first chapter book and i didn't know how much he would really understand, but he stopped me at one point because the description of the cat sitting on the wall was "freaking him out." he was picturing it sitting sideways on the wall, instead of on top of the wall. ha ha. kids are so funny.

7. herman melville said "how it is i know not; but there is no place like a bed for confidential disclosures between friends." my friends and i sometimes end up laying on someones bed and talking and those are usually our best conversations. we had one this weekend.

8. I have not yet completely silenced the 14-year old girl in my head, so I am still able to watch movies like high school musical 3 and be completely amused.

9. i finally cleaned my room. it looks lovely.

10. i taught relief society this past week, and i felt really good about my lesson.
