10 things that made me happy this week . . .

last week was an incredibly busy week, and i really need to do posts about the different things i did, but i haven't quite found time yet . . . so this week's 10 things will be a little preview of "what goes on" posts to come.

1. going out for indian food at north india bar and grill - my favorite restaurant in fresno. super yummy.
2. bull riding on thursday night. sharon and i made plans in january to go, and we've been counting the days . . . this year some of our friends joined us for the festivities. fun!

3. witnessing a friend get sealed in the temple. it's always overjoying to see people commit on such a level, and to see how happy it makes them and everyone involved. congratulations jess and james.

*bonus associated moment of happiness - it was my first time in the oakland temple, which is where my parents got married, so that was exciting!

4. after the wedding, the car i was in wouldn't start, and we were stranded in oakland for about three hours (post to follow). which doesn't sound happy, but we all had such great attitudes, and we had some immensely kind people trying to help us . . . so the real experience was that we were the receivers of charity and service, and we laughed over the entire experience for pretty much the whole three stranded hours, and the three hour car ride home.

*bonus associated moment of happiness - 6 hours of laughing = a lot of burned calories . . . i'm just saying . . .

5. saturday sharon and i went back to the rodeo (post to follow). i love rodeo's. how can you not love a rodeo? good show, even better people watching . . . how some people justify walking out of their houses dressed the way they are is beyond my ability to comprehend. but it makes for great entertainment.

6. john green is officially home from college.

7. movie date with neal. we saw "fast and furious." go ahead, scoff . . . but you know deep down you secretly enjoyed those movies too . . . except "tokyo drift" . . . that one was lame . . .

8. i got 101% on my latin test and 45/50 on my history paper. school is looking good. i'm starting to panic a little about my final research paper for history because i don't know if i'm going to be able to find primary sources . . . at least, not any in english. but whatever.

9. there is a radio station playing nothing but christmas music. not quite sure what that's about . . . but it certainly is amusing!

10. on sunday i got into bed around 6:30 and stayed there pretty much the rest of the night. i watched movies. it was perfect.

10 things that made me happy this week . . .

1. watching "say anything." regina and kendall had never seen it before, and they loved it . . . as they should have. (hermana perry, if you're reading this . . . you invade my soul!)

2. i planted some hanging baskets this weekend. they're fabulous. i love flowers. i wanna be that 80-year-old woman who has the garden around her house that's so crazy big you can't even see the house . . .

3. jennifer ward posted a video on her blog of 200 people showing up at a train station and doing a routine to "do re me" from "the sound of music." you can watch it here. we all need more musical moments in life. i can only hope i'll be a part of one on this scale someday.

4. i got 9 hours of sleep on monday night. it was pretty amazing.

5. it has warmed up enough that i have to sleep with the fan on. i like the white noise. i sleep better with it on.

6. john got his mission call. he's going to the new hampshire, manchester mission, which takes in vermont and . . . most importantly . . . maine! which is fantastic, because i've been looking for an excuse to go to maine, and now i have one!!! (yeah, it's all about me)

7. bbc's production of "little dorrit." it's great. i'm probably going to buy it.

8. NKOTB. yes . . . . it is what you're thinking. i saw new kids on the block in concert last thursday. danny, donnie, joe, jon, jordon have returned! my brother's friend called up and randomly enough had two free tickets to give away. and honestly, i didn't want to go all that much, but i knew regina wanted to, so i texted her and voila, we were at the concert.

it. was. fabulous.

pretty much as soon as i walked into the arena i was 13 years old again, swooning away over jon (he was my fav). so much fun . . . the guys still have it. truth be told, they have more of it now! i loved it. i'm still singing all the songs. and i don't even have to feel a little bit ridiculous about it because the entire crowd was in the exact same boat as me . . . ladies who were obsessed 20 years ago and were indulging in maniac nostalgia for the night.

*bonus associated moment of happiness: when i texted regina to see if she wanted to go, i texted her that i had "NKOTB" tickets, and she knew exactly what i was talking about. i didn't have to write out the whole name of the band, which made my heart happy.

9. the jabawokeez opened for NKOTB. i know what you're thinking . . . random. but they were amazing. *sigh* seriously. the whole night was just perfect.

10. i yelled at someone in the kaiser permanente collections department today.

leo carillo 2009

yes. it's that time of year again . . . spring break. and in the green and termeer families, that means it's time to head over to leo carillo for our annual camping trip. for the past several years the bulk of people in camp have been in their teens and twenties. this year, we had nine children. needless to say, the grown-ups were excessively busy monitoring all the kidletts . . .

amazingly, with all those kids, we had a surprising low number of injuries. there were the expected amount of scrapes, bruises and splinters; a few falls out of trees; and one 3rd degree burn on mazur's leg, which he deemed the "fire leg."

i was super excited this year because aunt becky and mindy came. it was so fun to spend time with them. i'm really hoping they come again next year and bring the rest of the williamson clan with them. it's been way too long since we were all camping together.

we had an easter egg hung again. it was great, the kids had a good time . . . as did the squirrels that were trying to hijack the easter egg hunt by breaking into the eggs for the candy inside!!

i was hyper-vigilant with the sunscreen and didn't get a sunburn until the last day, when i let myself get a little red, but only enough to turn into a tan.

this year we were particularly lucky . . . it only rained once. we've had much much worse . . .

here are a few pics:

heidi also blogged about the trip here.

10 things that made me happy this week . . .

there was no "10 things" posting last week because i was out of town, camping at the beach. we were far, far away from the mass of technology, which is a happiness in and of itself!

1. camping. i just love camping. we all look forward to our annual leo carillo trip with the termeers. we missed out last year . . . sad . . . but we were back in full force this year.

2. spending time with mindy. she came camping this year and i hadn't seen her in over a year, i think. she is one of my bosom buddies. a kindred spirit. the cheese to my macaroni. love her!

3. we had 9 children in camp this year, 7 of which were below the age of 5, and 3 of them were 6 months or less and needed to be held about 80% of the time. it was exhausting, but it was a lot of fun too. kids are so funny.

4. i was super responsible with my sunscreen this year, and i did not get burned until the last day when i let myself get a little bit red, but just enough that it would turn into a tan a few days later . . . which it has, and it looks great (if i do say so myself).

5. sobe bombs. roommate ryan finally had the opportunity to do one for us . . . it was spectacular.

6. easter egg hunts. our neighbors across the street came over for easter again this year and made the confetti eggs again . . . they are so much fun. why do we not have confetti egg fights every week? next year we're going to incorporate glitter into the whole thing . . now that will be something to behold!

7. kendall asked me to cut his hair, which made me really nervous, but i did it and it turned out just fine . . . so apparently i can now add cutting-boys-hair to my list of secret talents.

8. craig gave me a pirate ring this week. he just saw it and thought of me . . . awwwwww . . . thanks!

9. i got to talk to esther-is-bester this week, which was great, even if she is crazy and doesn't like perfectly fantastic things like the movie "enchanted" or the book "stargirl." oh well, we can't all be perfect . . .

10. mazur turned 5 on monday and his mom threw him a party at john's incredible pizza. i had never been there before. we all had a good time playing arcade games and bumper cars. mike and i faced off in dance dance revolution. surprisingly, he killed me. who knew?

10 things that made me happy this week . . .

1. sardines. the game, not the food.

2. a weekend with my friends at a cabin in shaver lake.

3. the smell of the sierra nevada's.

4. getting 72 points on a single word in scrabble. yeah . . . i won that game . . .

5. it's cadbury mini-egg season . . .

6. the flower district in la. for some reason i was dreading going this time, especially since i had to go by myself, but as soon as i got there and was surrounded by millions of flowers, i was happy to be there. it kind of makes me feel like i'm in "my fair lady," you know that bit in the beginning when all the flower ladies are walking through all the flowers, making little bouquets to sell . . . glorious!

7. my mom and i did the flowers for a wedding this past weekend. it makes me happy to be a part of peoples weddings and to make it possible for them to have flowers that would probably otherwise be beyond their financial means. plus, it gives me a chance to be creative.

*i'm working on a post with all the different floral things i've done for weddings in the past. i've finally located most of the pictures.

8. on you tube there is this video called "daft hands." seriously . . . who has this much time?! but it did amuse me and my friends . . . so i guess it has served it's purpose. also on you tube . . body flex . . . there are no words . . .

9. i discovered brandi carlile this week. (thanks kendall-icious)

10. regina's reaction to adam lambert's performance of "ring of fire."
